Like a true master, Perez Hilton has returned once more to perfect his craft:
Lifting a 100% bogus story, checking none of it, and blissfully racing to his next disaster with a trail of nonsense behind him.
“Johnny Depp Saves The Day!” bellows celebrity blogging’s Captain Oblivious. “You don’t mess with Captain Jack Sparrow!”
Perez then repeats the tale of Depp stopping a mugger who intimidated him and musician pal Stephen Jones in Los Angeles last weekend.
That’s right, the same story Gossip Cop completely busted long before Perez even bothered to copy the original wrong rumor.
“Things took a pretty comical turn when the mugger recognized the SEKSI actor!” he continues in his own inadvertent “comical turn,” parroting the implausible superstar stare down without hesitation.
As Gossip Cop reported, Depp wasn’t even in Los Angeles at the time of the alleged incident.
He was in Europe.
And the actor’s rep confirmed to us that the attempted mugging “did not happen.”
But while other outlets either corrected their Depp stories or chose not to run one after it was proven false, Perez stubbornly stuck to his regular game plan:
Wait hours and hours until “news” isn’t new, but don’t take twenty seconds to follow “copy and paste” with “check and verify.”
